I’ve just had the pleasure of a week’s fishing at Hideaway Lakes, owned and managed by Steve, Elaine and their three sons Spencer, Jake and Harry – all willing to go that extra mile to make sure your stay is one you won’t forget. From the moment you arrive the family make you feel welcome and at home and I knew within the first few hours that I was going to enjoy this holiday.
The accommodation, the food, the fishing and the company of the family (Dillon included) can only be described as first rate. I struggled at first – losing a few fish – but Steve soon changed that with advice and help on a change of rig and adjustment to reel settings which led to every run resulting in a fish.
Work in progress on the lake includes the construction of three fishing pods and when these are finished Hideaway Lakes is en route to be an outstanding venue. If I was to book another fishing holiday in France it would be here. Arrive as a guest leave as a friend.

This fantastic little gem nestled away in the rural setting near lonlay l’abbaye is going to be a fantastic venue to fish with carp to over the 30lb mark also catfish over the 30 lb and the ever friendly Casper the sturgeon who we caught at 20 lb, the fully equipped 4 berth caravan by the lake side is ideal if you wanted a bit more comfort for yourself or even your wife/partner/ children, ideal lake for first time anglers to France or experienced anglers alike, Trevor and Diane are perfect hosts and make you feel at home straight away and the breakfast baguettes they provide every morning delivered to the caravan are superb. Myself and my wife Jackie can’t recommend this venue highly enough it is sublime,
My wife’s first time fishing and she landed 27 fish to my 45 fish superb achievement with her having 5 carp over 20 lb and one mirror carp at 30lb, catfish of 31 lb and 20 lb Casper the sturgeon. I had several carp ranging from 14 lb up to 24.5 lb a catfish of 33.5 and Casper as well,
Totally loved this place and will definitely be returning next year,
For a new fisheries it’s fantastic and well worth a trip here,
