Watergate Lake is the ideal place for Carp and Coarse fishing. It’s set in beautiful surroundings located close to the old mining village of Murton. Watergate is 3 acres in size with 10 swims and is regarded as one of the North East’s finest specialist day ticket carp fishing waters.

RULES

One angler per peg (double pegs are available – see map)
Maximum of 2 rods per angler
Barbless hooks or micro barbs only
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult
Fishing from platforms only
No wading
No Dogs
Please remove all litter
No sacking of fish
No nuts or tigers, particles and coarse pellets are ok
Minimum line of 8lb, Carp rods only
Unhooking mats are required
No fixed rigs, inline leads and barbless hooks only, rigs will be checked.
Landing nets must have at least 22-inch arms, nets and slings
No night only tickets, ie day or 24hr tickets only
No fires or guns. No loud music or antisocial behaviour
No rods to be left unattended
No Alcohol
All nets must be dipped prior to entering the lake

Ticket Times

24 Hour tickets start at 08:30AM, and the swim must be vacated by 08:30AM on the day you leave.

Day Tickets start at 10:00AM, however If the peg is available you may begin from 7:00AM. (ie. nobody fishing the night before)

Had a cracking 24hrs on peg 5 only one fish caught 15lb on the nose.fish starting to wake up after a long winter fish boshing out.had a walk round the lake then we had a good crack with the boys on pegs 3/4 a nice common caught on peg 3 16lb well done m8 . Cheers lee see you on monday.

First time down the range yesterday. Big old 100m range. You can shoot what you want just tidy up after yourselves. Nice to be on a range where nobody hangs over you. Treated like proper adults

Great lake , owner of the Lake is a nice guy .
I come here regularly as its just 25 mins drive and fish are well stocked . Caught 4 fish here , its a difficult lake to fish on but that’s what I prefer. My favourite peg is 10

Well what can I say just returned from 2 nights off peg5 had 2 fantastic mirror carp & lost 2 the fish are in Presteigne condition. Had great crack with Lee & few off the local carp lads . Fantastic venue brilliant surroundings nice & peaceful & secure. So tight lines boys .Thanks Lee for the herbal tea & coffees all the best I will be back next wk cheers lee

Hi just had a 48hrs session on peg 5. Fantastic time 10 carp one beauty mirror at 22lb.6oz/ 16lb.oz /18lb.4oz/14lb.8oz ..The rest low doubles & a couple of stockies. The venue is in outstanding woodland.The fish are in prestige condition well kept boundaries.Lee the owner is the most polite & well clued up on fish management he’s always there to give advise & a bit crack on. He is on site 24 Severn so security is his top priority on site toilet which is kept immaculate. His head bailiff Ray has hands on experience which he has policed it & fished for many years. He also polite & loves to have a chat willing to give advise if needed.what more can I say it speaks for itself excellent value for money . So get in touch & catch a PB .well done Lee hats of to you freinds & family to a fantastic venue see you soon all the best .David

Came for the first time last week on a overnighter. Was not disappointed. Got 3 lovely Carp and my pal got a lovely double figure fish. Back again today with 3 pals,lovely venue, peaceful. The owner Lee has restricted it to 10 swims which gives you a great area to fish. Definitely worth a visit.

In my opinion the best bream fishing in the North East . Great fun long distance feeder fishing in an idyllic setting .

A developing fishery that’s improving all the time . The course fish are superb !

Owned by a passionate guy who I’ve found to be really welcoming and helpful.

Our first visit to watergate yesterday and amazing from Lee the owner giving my son some great advice on how to cast where to fish to the great amount of knowledge shared my son caught over 20 beautiful fish 🐟 the site it’s self is stunning the relaxed atmosphere and his family also is very helpful,

my son is autistic and adhd and fishing and rifle shooting is his hobbie
To find such a hidden gem local to us that provides all he loves to do and the best advice too from all what he needed for fish safely to rods bait was perfect as I didn’t know

The lake it’s self is stunning very clean you can see lots of work has been done and the new outdoor rifle range is fabulous too
My son was so happy to have a go so will be booking this up too

The welcome we received was really lovely as we are new to this everything was explained simple for me to understand and for my son

I’m looking forward to the new glamping pods been build as I feel this would be great to stay for the fishing and the rifle range and for him to experience a night time fish session

Only problem I had we didn’t want to come home 😊 we just love it here

I thought I’d give a review from a parent view if they have children with additional needs or mobility issues the new parking bays are just a short distance from the lake which was great for my health needs

I booked a plus one guest I do have a fishing license also but was so great seeing my son learn and catch beautiful fish by himself making it a great life lesson for sure

I made sure I read the lake rules taking our rubbish home as it’s only right

I’ve booked again today and feel happy I’ve found a safe beautiful lake we can visit regularly for fishing and for the rifle range

Lovely little lake.. well maintained, price to fish is very reasonable. did my first day session afew weeks ago, managed a low double out, but everyone on the lake had fish.
Owner was very nice and had a long chat about the lake. Definitely be back to do some night sessions.

Great lake , a lot of people complian about this lake but they need to understand that this lake is the only decent lake around this area and has some great carp in it .
